“John Rutere is the UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Tanzania. John has over 30 years diverse experience in both the private and public sectors in programme and operations, financial resource and risk management and in structuring and underwriting fixed income investments. John has worked in the UN Development System for 16 years in various senior management roles with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Capital Development Fund where he was the Head of Finance and Management Services before taking up his current role as the UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Tanzania where his responsibilities include overseeing partnership building, resource mobilization and formulation and delivery of risk-informed programmes in Tanzania in addition to deputizing the Resident Representative in engagements with the Government and key development partners. Prior to joining the UN Development System, John worked Davidson Kempner Capital Management – a NY based Hedge Fund, GE Capital in the US and Australia, Bear Stearns Investment Bank in NY and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Nairobi and London.

John is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter-holder and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Cornell University in the United States.”
