Biography

Cobus Visagie co-founded Africa Merchant Capital in 2012 as a privately owned boutique merchant bank, focused on the high growth private capital markets of Sub-Sahara Africa. In 2016, AMC Trade Finance was launched, which provides flexible, secured trade finance to importers and exporters through a transactional trade finance model, to add to our existing corporate finance advisory and investment management businesses, thus broadening AMC’s bespoke merchant banking solution to the high growth markets of Sub-Saharan Africa. Cobus Visagie was previously Principal for Africa at Templewood Merchant Bank, a London-based private merchant bank, leading origination and distribution of transactions across Sub-Sahara Africa. Cobus Visagie qualified as a chartered accountant in South Africa with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Cobus Visagie also had a successful international and professional rugby career spanning both the Northern and Southern hemispheres. Cobus holds a B.Comm(Hons) degree from the University of Stellenbosch.
