Biography

Matt is the Portfolio Manager for Africa of the Challenger Trade Finance Fund. Additionally, he sits on the Investment and Risk Committee. As a Chartered Accountant and CFA, Matt brings extensive experience in private credit, with a particular focus on trade finance. He specializes in structuring and negotiating deals, capital raising and investor relations, and managing portfolios to deliver strong, risk-adjusted returns for investors.

Matt has been integral in Challenger’s growth, assisting in Challenger reaching $1 billion of deployment in financing businesses in emerging markets, particularly in Africa and Latin America. His expertise in trade finance has allowed him to navigate complex financial transactions, mitigate risks, and build strong relationships across the market.
