Dr Chinyere Almona heads IFC’s Africa Corporate Governance (Advisory) Program, which provides a variety of corporate governance (CG) interventions across Sub-Saharan Africa; covering: Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Cote D’Ivoire, Senegal, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ethiopia & South Africa. With over 26 years work experience, she is a governance professional, with strong vision and passion in helping clients adopt good CG practices. Prior to joining IFC, Chinyere was a Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Advisory Consulting Practice in Nigeria, heading the firm’s Governance, Risk and Compliance Practice, which she established. She is an international consultant with a specialist MBA in Corporate Social Responsibility from University of Nottingham, UK. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria, an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Directors (Ghana) and holds a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration from Business School Netherlands.

She has led various CG reforms in the African region such as development and revision of CG regulations working with Central Banks, Stock Exchanges and Capital Market Authorities, establishing governance courses in major universities and developing governance frameworks for SMEs. Chinyere is an active angel investor and member of the Rising Tide Africa (female angel investors network) and Investment 8 Club. She has contributed to research on leadership, corporate responsibility and women on boards and has a strong Pan-African perspective as an alumna of the British Council’s Pan-African InterAction Leadership Program, aimed at building Leaders with a heart for Africa. She is a published author, an international speaker, an IFC certified trainer, a counselor, coach and mentor in the areas of leadership, team-building and career development.
