Update as at 10th March 2020

The Covid-19 situation in Europe and in the UK has deteriorated in the past few days. The UK Government now expects that Covid-19 “is going to spread in a significant way”. Your health and safety is of the utmost priority to us. We do not want to contribute to the potential spread of Covid-19 into Africa and so we have taken the difficult decision to postpone our main event AFSIC – Investing in Africa 2020. We really regret the cost and inconvenience that this decision will cause you.

We have a huge array of leading Africa VIPs who are planning to attend AFSIC from across Africa and outside the UK and rather than wait until closer to the date to make a decision we want to provide you with as much notice as possible so that you can rearrange your own travel schedules.

Next Steps

  • We will offer all delegates who paid for AFSIC 2020 tickets equivalent complementary tickets to AFSIC – Investing in Africa 2021;
  • We will still open our sophisticated AFSIC Event and Meeting App as planned a month prior to when AFSIC 2020 was due to take place, and close it one week after AFSIC 2020 was due to conclude. We recommend that you use the App as much as possible;
  • Our Investment Dashboard is already open for investors and companies seeking investment. This is a new addition to AFSIC, and we expect to see considerable development of the Dashboard in coming years. The aim is to facilitate inward investment into Africa’s most exciting companies. If you are not an institutional investor, investment banker or registering an investment proposition but are a lawyer or other service provider, we will be offering additional functionality to you during 2020;
  • We are in the process of developing a new community website that will profile key business leaders in Africa, and Africa’s investment community. More details will be sent to you on this later.

We have been amazed to date by the strong support received from our confirmed sponsors and delegates in the past few weeks, and want to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks for this support. As always working together we can mobilise substantial inward investment into Africa.

Best Regards,

Rupert McCammon,
Managing Director
