Biography

Tom Powell founded Amthe Capital to make sustainable investments in the agricultural space. Working alongside Jersey Overseas Aid and the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society, he seeks “for profit” investments which complement their grant and aid work. As a private equity manager, Amthe Capital seeks to grow profitable businesses, with a particular focus on smallholder dairying. He has 20 years of front office trading and risk management experience, gained at Société Générale, Marex Spectron and Jefferies Bache and in commodity trading hedge funds.

Tom Powell is based in Jersey, where alongside investment director roles in commodity trade finance, he chairs the Jersey Funds Association subcommittee on ESG. He is also a member of the Jersey Sustainable Finance Steering Committee. Tom Powell represented the commercial side of Jersey at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kigali, Rwanda, where he also seeks investment interests.

Tom Powell is trilingual English, French and Italian and has a Masters in International Commerce from the Université Blaise Pascal (Clermont-II) – Clermont-Ferrand and a BA(Hons) and holds the CFA certificate in ESG investing.
