Biography

Mr. Thomson Nelson Kumwenda is a Growth Oriented Entrepreneurial Executive, Public Certified Accountant CPA (Mw), and Economist, with 15 years practical hands-on extensive experience in Corporate Finance, Accounting, Auditing, teaching, Financial Risk Management and Administration.

Thomson Kumwenda is currently pursuing a PhD in Economics with Focus on Banking, Capital, and Financial Markets Developments in Malawi. He holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Accounting Degree all with and from the University of Malawi. He is also an ACCA Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi, Malawi Accountants Board and Africa Econometric Society.

Thomson Kumwenda has worked as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for 15 years in the Malawi Financial Services Sector; serving as a CFO for a Regulated Development Finance Institution, Banking Entity and for Entrepreneurial Microfinance Entities. Over the past 15 years he has managed, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A’s), Initial Public Offerings (IPO’s), Listing of Bonds on the Stock Exchange, Raising All Types of Debt Instruments, both Tier II Capital, Senior and Subordinated Debt Instruments, Acquisition of Selected Balance Sheet Assets.
