Biography

Tarek Mouganie is the founder of Affinity, a full-fledged digitally-driven bank that provides affordable financial services to the underserved and unbanked, targeting eight out of the seventeen UN SDGs. Affinity has built channels for both digital natives and low fidelity users, enabling 24/7 banking services to the mass market at a low cost. In its pre-launch phase, Affinity has already acquired 10,000 customers, 62% of whom are women and 86% previously unbanked.

Prior to Affinity, Tarek Mouganie was a Director at Man Group (GLG Partners) and began his career as an academic at the University of Cambridge where he obtained his PhD.

Tarek Mouganie is passionate about entrepreneurship and the creative industries as a way of supporting social and economic development. He is on the board of 1-54, the largest African contemporary art fair and Greene Light Stage (Old Vic Productions) in London. Tarek is the co-founder and former CEO of the Ghana Triathlon Federation, and was the Honorary Consul of Cape Verde in Ghana, nominated by Mo Ibrahim Prize Laureate, HE Pedro Pires.
