Biography

Phillip Myburgh, Founding Partner (CEO) of Ethos Mezzanine Partners. Phillip has 27 years’ experience in investment banking and closed-ended fund management, and founded Ethos Mezzanine Partners (one of Africa’s first dedicated mezzanine fund managers) in 2005. The business forms part of the Ethos Private Equity group with a 32-year history of managing investments in private equity and credit strategies in in sub-Saharan Africa, and an unparalleled track record of successful, sustainable investing across economic and political cycles.
Prior to joining Ethos, Phillip was a Director of Brait Private Equity in South Africa, with primary responsibility for leveraged finance. Prior to joining Brait in 2000, Phillip filled senior and executive management positions in the Special Projects and Structured Finance Divisions of Standard Merchant Bank and Rand Merchant Bank. Phillip received a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University, where he was an Edward S. Mason Fellow; and a BA LLB from the University of Stellenbosch. He has an H Dip Tax cum laude from the University of Johannesburg and is admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
