Biography

Mamo Mihretu is the founding CEO of Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH). EIH is a holding company that serves as a strategic investment arm of the government of Ethiopia. The company engages in strategic investments across a wide range of industries, with the objective of unlocking the country’s economic potential. EIH also owns and administers 27 state-owned enterprises including Ethiopian Airlines and Ethio Telecom. Since 2018, Mamo has also been acting in the capacity of senior advisor on policy reforms to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia and Ethiopia’s Chief Trade Negotiator.

Mamo Mihretu is a member of the macro-economic committee of Ethiopia which is the central organ that coordinates economic policy-making within the government. He also serves on the board of large state-owned enterprises, including the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia.

Mamo Mihretu holds an LLB degree in law from Addis Ababa University. He also holds LLM degrees from the University of Pretoria and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
