Biography

Juan Jose Garcia is the Head of Syndications for Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America & the Caribbean at the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC). In his current capacity, Juan Jose leads the team responsible for delivering a 3rd party regional debt mobilization program of about US$3.0-3.5 billion per year and for overseeing an approximately $8.6 billion syndicated loans portfolio, representing 45-50% of IFC’s global volume.

Before syndications, Juan Jose spent 2 years as Carbon Finance Investment Officer focusing on developing IFC’s financial solutions to unlock & monetize the value of carbon emissions in support of climate friendly projects in emerging markets. Prior to joining IFC, Juan Jose spent over 7 years at the Inter-American Development Bank’s Structured & Corporate Finance Department as an Investment Officer focusing on origination, structuring and portfolio management of project financings and financial institutions transactions throughout Latin America. He is Colombian born and raised, holding a BSc. in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Javeriana in Colombia and an MBA from McGill University in Canada.
