Biography

Jonathan Johannesen has pioneer for the past 20 years, financial services initiatives for the unbaked in very difficult environments in the central African region.

One of Jonathan Johannesen’s first achievements was the development of the Moneytrans network & brand in Africa, the first affordable remittance services in Africa. Following that he has joined the Millicom group as head of mobile financial services for the Tigo operation in DR Congo. He effectively launched a new brand, ensuring top of mind and fast adoption of mobile financial services in a very challenging environment. Implementing civil servant payroll solutions in a country at war. He achieved a comprehensive roadmap of new VAS including innovative connections and integrations with banks and communities.

During the same period, Jonathan Johannesen also leaded the foundation of the national mobile money industry association. Today he is the CEO & Founder of flash, the first and biggest fintech in the Central African region.

Jonathan Johannesen’s next challenge is to provide mobile financial inclusion for the millions of underbanked populations in the African continent that regularly use the money transfer services & digital value-added services.

In 2018 Jonathan Johannesen founded the Company FLASH which aims to revolutionize the distribution of value-added services and money transfer in the region thru the activation of + 10.000 POS and while launching a free app that will enable zero fees financial inclusion. He is also the co-founder of Schoolap a startup that aims to enhance the education of African communities.
