Hana Tehelku, the newly appointed Director General of the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA), is a distinguished legal professional known for her tenacity and integrity. Before stepping into her role at ECMA, Ms. Hana built a formidable reputation as a tough and dedicated prosecutor. Her career has been marked by an unwavering commitment to justice, particularly in the areas of economic crime, anti-corruption, and financial fraud.

Ms. Hana holds an LLB from Mekelle University, an LLM from Addis Ababa University and MA in developmental studies from EGST (Ethiopian Graduate School of Theology). Throughout her career, she has been at the forefront of investigating and prosecuting complex financial crimes, including fraud and anti-money laundering (AML) cases. Her work in these areas has earned her recognition as a principled and relentless advocate for accountability and transparency in Ethiopia’s legal system.
