Biography

Eddie Chibi is the CEO of Cassava Fintech Zimbabwe, a company wholly owned by Econet Wireless Zimbabwe Limited. The Cassava Fintech business unit houses the mobile money Business EcoCash, microinsurance EcoSure and eCommerce. Eddie has 19-years’ experience in Telecoms, ISP and Mobile Financial Services. He has served in the telecoms industry in Nigeria, Burundi and Zimbabwe in Sales, Marketing and Customer Experience roles. He has also served as Chief Commercial Officer for Econet Burundi, and for Econet Wireless Zimbabwe as well as being Chief Sales & Distribution Officer before being appointed CEO of the Fintech business. He was instrumental in the launch of Mobile Money in Burundi in 2010 before being re-assigned to Zimbabwe to drive the growth of Mobile Money in the Zimbabwe Market from 2013. Eddie is a holder of an MBA, BBA, BA, Dip. in Communication and is currently studying for MSc. in Marketing with the University of Salford (UK). Eddie is passionate about mobile based innovation with a positive transformational impact on peoples lives and is an expert in modelling distribution, agents and franchise models.
