Biography

Emebet Melese (PhD), Chief Executive Officer at Nib International Bank, has more than twenty two years banking experience. She joined Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in March 2002 and worked at different divisions of the Bank till May 2024 when she joined Nib International Bank as a CEO. Her dream to put an impact on one of the Ethiopian organizations was her motivation to join the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. She spearheads crucial initiatives aimed at driving organizational change and progress with in CBE and being managing business reform at Nib International Bank.

Dr. Emebet began her executive role in Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in 2018 as a Vice President of Credit Appraisal. Overtime her dedication and exceptional skills led her to assume a different role as VP of Corporate Quality Assurance, VP of CBE Reform and Transformation Project Office and VP of Strategy and Transformation Office. Her expertise and leadership have been instrumental in orchestrating the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia on-going transformation efforts later promoted her to the Nib International Bank’s CEO position.

Holding a prestigious PhD in Leadership in Business, she has delved deep in to the intricacies of the financial landscape, making her a true visionary in the industry. Her passion for pushing boundaries and exploring innovative solutions has earned her recognition as a thought leader in strategic management.

Beyond her professional achievements, she is also deeply committed to empower the next generation of leaders. She actively mentors aspiring finance professionals and involved in various philanthropic initiatives focused on education and social empowerment.
