Biography
Asad Naqvi is a Partner at Apis, a private equity fund focused on growth equity investments in financial services and financial infrastructure. Asad is actively involved on all aspects of the firm’s investment process including investment origination, execution and portfolio management. Asad overseas several of the fund’s investments including companies in the MSME credit, asset financing and cross border payment sectors.
Prior to Apis, Asad had over 14 years of experience in private equity investing and corporate finance. Asad was a Partner at Wolfensohn Fund Management, the financial services and emerging markets focused private equity fund founded by James Wolfensohn (former World Bank President). Asad headed Wolfensohn’s London office and managed several of the firm’s financial services investments, ranging from consumer finance lenders to stock exchanges.
Previously, Asad was the Director of Acquisitions & Investments at The Resource Group (TRG), a global investment holding company, where his experience included over 10 private equity style investments in the business services and BPO sectors. Asad started his career at Lazard where he worked on over 10 M&A transactions with an aggregate value of over $14 billion.
Asad has served on the Board of Directors of several investee companies, and has spoken on issues of financial inclusion and financial technology at several industry events, including SIBOS / Innotribe, Global Money Transfer Summit, The Financial Services Forum, Citi Digital Money Symposium, and the SME Finance Forum.
Asad holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics from Georgetown University.
