Biography

Angus Brown is a fintech entrepreneur and is the founder and CEO of Centbee, a global blockchain payments company based in South Africa.

Angus was one of the founding team, and later CEO of South Africa’s first bank-backed digital currency and rewards program, eBucks.com in 2000. After leaving South Africa’s leading banks, FirstRand after 11 years, he was the Head of Alliance Banking and CIO at Mercantile Bank Limited for 4 years. He introduced payment capabilities to Blue Label Telecoms and then MMI Holdings, serving as an executive with these listed companies.

In recent years he has helped create several ‘challenger’ fintech and banking ventures including BETTR Bank, InterGreatMe and Centbee.

Angus was educated at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and the University of Oxford.
