Biography

Mr. Alexander Hadden is a Director with the Structured Finance & Insurance Department at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the U.S. Government’s development finance institution. OPIC mobilizes private capital to help solve critical development challenges and in doing so, advances U.S. foreign policy. In his current role, Mr. Hadden originates and underwrites project finance, commercial finance and risk sharing frameworks for investments in emerging markets. Most recently, he has been active underwriting investments in financial services, extractives and telecommunications in West Africa. Previously, with OPIC’s Investment Funds Department, he monitored the performance of OPIC financing for private equity funds, including investments in East African telecommunications. He is interested in the spillover effect of new technology and more robust telecommunications networks on other sectors: financial services, agriculture and beyond. Prior to joining OPIC, Mr. Hadden was a capacity building specialist with the public-private partnership (PPP) unit at Tetra Tech Inc and an analyst at Citi (London). He received his master’s degree from the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce at the University of Kentucky.
