With a corporate finance and private equity background, combined with her environmental science and international relations specialisation, Jiao has worked in the international climate space in various sectors including waste management, sustainable agriculture, and energy projects. As deputy CEO of Catalytic, Jiao oversees the implementation of programmes and execute organisational strategic plans. A flagship initiative of Catalytic is the Subnational Climate Fund, a blended-finance investment fund with a technical assistance facility. The TA facility includes a project preparation facility which sources, screens, evaluates projects, selecting some for technical assistance to bring these projects towards investibility and climate impact.
