Biography

Nikos Milianitis started his banking career in Greece working with a commercial banking group (1987-95) in executive and managerial positions in strategic planning, corporate advisory and investment banking. He was Treasurer of the European Investment Fund (1995-2000) and then Senior Portfolio Manager (2001-2007), with the European Investment Bank managing credit fixed-income portfolios of over EUR 2 billion. As senior loan officer with EIB (2007-today) he has been involved in project finance transactions in Spain (particularly the renewable energies sector), bank lending in South-Eastern Europe (Romania, Bulgaria and Cyprus) and was Deputy Head of Representation at EIB’s office in Nairobi covering East and Central Africa originating and carrying out public- and private-sector operations. He is currently Deputy Head of Financial Services Division, Global Partners Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Latin America and responsible for capital markets operations aiming to finance sectors under one or more Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of South Florida (Tampa, Florida) and an MBA from The Thunderbird School of Global Management (Glendale, Arizona). He is a Certified Trainer with many years’ teaching experience in undergraduate/graduate programs and professional seminars in finance and banking.
