Xavier Echasseriau started his career as a junior analyst at Société Générale in France, where he covered a portfolio of European and Asian global and investment banks, prior to joining AFD Group, France’s bilateral international co-operation operator. He was first posted in French Guiana, where he contributed to launching a guarantee fund dedicated to SMEs. From 2001 to 2008, he held several positions within AFD’s central banking unit, successively in Paris where he took part in overhauling the monetary policy for the French territories of the South Pacific, then in New Caledonia as head of the credit department, and then in Reunion as head of the corporate department, more specifically in charge of mediating between corporates and banks during the financial crisis. From 2009 to 2013, he was posted in India as a programme officer for South Asia and as an attaché for international development to the Embassy of France in New Delhi, where he structured and implemented various projects in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency. More recently, Xavier served as a senior investment officer within Proparco’s Banking and Capital Markets Department in Paris where he was in charge of investments in the field of green finance and sustainable development. Xavier currently serves as Deputy Head of Proparco’s FI department, more specifically in charge of “Guarantees for Development” activities. Xavier holds a masters’ degree in management and business administration and a post graduate degree in finance from the University of Paris.
