Biography

Wesley Davis has over 30 years of professional experience devoted to Emerging Markets Finance spanning a wide range of roles, products, and geographies at Global Investment Banks and local operating companies.  While working in Africa for HSBC and Renaissance Capital Wesley developed a passion for promoting development projects in Sub-Saharan Africa and applying his financial expertise to drive positive developmental impact.  In 2016 Wesley co-founded Alluvial Agriculture to provide comprehensive support services for small-holder famers in Nigeria.  The firms’ objectives are to improve yields per hectare and achieve sufficient scale to convert subsistence farmers into small scale commercial operators that generate enough income to fully support families and communities.  Critical to this mission was the development of the “Community Block” Service Delivery Model whereby holistic support services are delivered to small holder farmers aggregated into “Community Blocks” that achieve sufficient scale to support modern commercial farming practices.  Alluvial arranges financing in conjunction with mechanisation, all necessary inputs, site and crop specific agronomist advice, crop insurance, harvest support, and market access.  Their holistic service delivery incorporates performance monitoring that de-risks operational challenges and catalyses financing.
