Sanjeev Gupta is AFC’s Executive Director & Head of Financial Services. In this role, he leads the corporation`s Treasury, Trade Finance, Syndication and Advisory businesses. As a member of both the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. Sanjeev is also part of the overall leadership and strategy team responsible to meet the corporation`s formidable targets ahead.
He has a wealth of experience in working across various merging markets, especially in Sub Saharan Africa for over 25 years. He was the leader of the Emerging Markets M&A Center of Excellence at Ernst & Young (EY) in the EMEIA region). His specific focus was to deliver an innovative, integrated offering of EY’s technical and sector expertise to cross-border transactions in Africa, the Middle East, India, Central and Eastern Europe.
He has considerable experience in Investment Management, Private Equity and Corporate Advisory Services and his forte has been to blend together divergent corporates, investors, communities and governments to develop sustainable business and development models in hitherto fledgling frontier markets and ensure financially viable businesses and projects can take off with support of all relevant stakeholders.
Sanjeev has sound relationships with global funding and development agencies and corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, banks and political leaders across the emerging markets of Africa, India, the Middle East and South Asia. His previous roles include CEO of Sanlam Investment Management-Emerging Markets (South Africa) and CEO of Botswana Insurance Holdings Limited.
Sanjeev, is a Fellow Member of the ICAI (India), holds an AMP from the Oxford University Said Business School (UK), has been an active participant in the Commonwealth Study Group activities under the auspices of the Duke of Edinburg Foundation and a keen supporter of the activities of a number of UK and India based NGOs including Childreach International and Common Purpose.
Among his other interests, he likes to play golf and is a contributor to various publications, does regular motivational speaking & workshops with senior corporate management teams and continues to be a speaker at conferences globally.
