Ruth Beckers has been active in project finance for more than 20 years. She has been conducting business worldwide, with extensive experience in Africa but also in the Middle East and Asia.
Her most recent achievement was the closing the first IPP in Mali, where she acted as a project developer, finance and insurance advisor and indirectly holds some equity. The project has been financed by a combination of Islamic and conventional financing which was groundbreaking for a project in the region.
She has been advising equity investors, developers of greenfield projects, project companies, and host governments. She has expertise in every stage of development, financing, construction, and operations.
She has closed over $15 billion in project finance transactions worldwide, including the following pioneering deals:
• First IPP in Mali
• First IPP in the Ivory Coast
• First coal-fired IPP in India
• First private airport in South Africa
• First combined cycle in India
Ruth’s work experience included working for ABB in senior Management positions for more than 15 years, family offices, a start-up and banks.
She has an MBA in Banking from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland); Executive Masters in Corporate Finance from the University of Applied Sciences in Lucerne (Switzerland); Speaks English, German, French, and Swedish.
