Biography

Co-Lead, Affordable Education Finance, CapitalPlus , CEO of SDG and Associate Fellow, Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
Peter has over 25 years of commercial experience in Africa, the United Kingdom and S E Asia investing and transforming financial institutions, banks, fair-trade and not-for profit organisations. Peter is CEO of SDG that advises impact investors in Africa and from 2013-18 was senior advisor to the DEEPEN (Developing Effective Private Education Nigeria) programme in Lagos. Peter is Co-lead for Affordable Education Finance for Chicago based, CapitalPlus, which is striving to increase the supply of finance to low-cost schools in African urban centres, in a manner that results in improved learning outcomes. These low-cost private schools are now educating the majority of primary school-aged children in many developing country cities. The above activities dovetail with his current DPhil area of research, “The financing of low-cost, non-state schools in Africa.”
