Co-Founder & CEO
ZAKA Group Ltd
Nick co-founded ZAKA in 2018 out of a realisation that digital ID is the most important and least understood opportunity for digital inclusion. Prior to this, he was Head of Ops and Portfolio at BeyondMe, where he built a portfolio of 200 social venture partnerships, and an analyst at Toniic, an impact investor network where he was looking at deal flow from Eastern Europe. He also co-founded and led an education charity in Sierra Leone from 2011, which was then merged with Street Child in 2017. He now sits on the board of Street Child and Planting Promise. He studied Economics and Geography at Trinity College Dublin. Recent speaking positions on digital ID were at Imperial College London, St. James’ Palace, UNDP, Turkey’s National Blockchain Workshop and Rwanda’s Blockchain Association.
In digital ID and authentication, he covers subjects ranging from the definition and explanation of the digital trust problem in Africa; insights into the different models, opportunities and limitations of digital ID; a deep dive on decentralised ID; the role of digital ID in health, finance and education; emerging standards and trends in digital ID and authentication in Africa; the future of the digital economy as it relates to digital ID.
