Mustafa Rawji was Secretary General and then Head of Strategy of Rawbank from 2012, before becoming Deputy Managing Director of the leading bank in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in March 2016. Established in 2001 by the Rawji family, Rawbank reached a total USD 1 billion in total assets for the year 2015 and commands a 23% market share of the total loans and deposits in the country.
Strongly established as the market leader, Rawbank is a committed player in the financing of the Congolese economy and a champion of financial inclusion. Rawbank is also developing its services in digital banking and insurance.
Prior to joining Rawbank in 2009, Mustafa Rawji, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration & Finance (Babson College, Boston), worked at Crédit Agricole (structured trade finance) and then at HSBC (corporate investment and merchant banking) in Dubai. Since returning to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mustafa Rawji has been bringing his skills to the development of the family group, which has been operating in the country since the beginning of the 20th century (industry, commerce and banking), thus contributing to the recovery of the Congolese economy.
