In a career spanning 12 years, Joseph has worked on transactions with a combined value of over USD 9 billion, across Agriculture, Financial Institutions, Infrastructure Finance, Power and Telecommunications ; providing senior debt, mezzanine finance and acquisition finance facilities to some of the continents leading corporations .
Joseph joined Qbera Capital LLP in 2018 from Trade and Development Bank (“TDB”) – the DFI for the East and Southern African regional economic bloc; COMESA. Joseph was based in Nairobi and in his short time with TDB Joseph built their Advisory and Deal structuring business and was responsible for a landmark balance sheet restructuring for one of Africa’s leading Telecommunications firms. Prior to TDB, Joseph was a founding member of Barclays Africa’s Africa Debt team (ex RSA), within the Corporate and Investment Banking division.
As a Vice President based in Johannesburg, Joseph was responsible for leading and executing high value, complex transactions in Barclays’ important African jurisdictions, across power, TMT, infrastructure and financial services. Joseph played an important role in building the East African debt business, spending significant amounts of time in Nairobi establishing important client relationships; and laying the foundation for future syndicated loan mandates. Prior to Barclays, Joseph was an investment banker with Standard Bank of South Africa and started his career in the audit practice of Deloitte and Touch, Lusaka.
Joseph has an MBA from Wits Business School and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK).
