Dr. James Knuckles helps manage the World Bank’s Global Facility on Mini Grids, an initiative that supports the Bank’s mini grid investment portfolio, which spans more than 40 countries. Dr. Knuckles has worked with the World Bank on mini grid projects over the past 8 years, and is co-author of two World Bank flagship mini grid publications, From the Bottom Up (2014) and Mini Grids for Half a Billion People (Executive Summary published in 2019; full book forthcoming in 2020). Dr. Knuckles has previously worked with startup energy access companies in California and Haiti, and an innovation policy think tank in Washington, DC. He has a PhD in Management from Cass Business School, an MBA from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, and a BA in Mathematics from Bowdoin College. He lives in London.
