Biography

Frederick Bayona Nshekanabo is the current Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of CRDB Bank Plc – Tanzania’s largest commercial bank listed on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE). Nshekanabo has over 20 years of professional experience, half of which he has served in senior management positions within the banking industry in Tanzania.

Serving as CFO, Nshekanabo has been instrumental in spearheading financial reforms, which have contributed to the Group’s performance turnaround and exponential growth of the balance sheet. Under his tenure, the CRDB Bank’s profitability has more than quadrupled, buoyed by enhanced operational efficiency and strategic investments, including two subsidiaries outside the country.

Besides his role at CRDB Bank Group, Nshekanabo serves as a member of the board of Tandahimba Community Bank (TACOBA), representing CRDB Bank Plc under the Bank’s Management contract. He is also an Alternate Director of the Tanzania Mortgage Refinancing Finance Company Limited (TMRC), and an Honorary Treasurer to the Tanzania Bankers Association(TBA) – an umbrella body for financial institutions in Tanzania.

Nshekanabo holds a Master of Science in Finance (MSc, Finance) from the University of Strathclyde, UK and an Advanced Diploma in Accountancy from the Institute of Finance Management (IFM), Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is an Associate Certified Public Accountant (ACPA (T). Nshekanabo holds a Certificate in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors (IoD) – UK and has attended various Executive Management Development Programs from the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business and Harvard Business School in Boston (USA).
