Biography

Ms. Elizabeth Rossiello founded BitPesa in 2014 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Rossiello began her career in Economic Research with the German Bundestag and after completing a Masters in International Finance at Columbia University’s SIPA was awarded a Robert Bosch Fellowship in Frankfurt.  She then served as an Investment Banking Analyst at Credit Suisse in Zurich.  She moved to Kenya in 2009 as Deputy Director for sub-Saharan Africa with the leading Microfinance Rating Agency and then worked as an Investment Advisor across the region for Grameen Foundation and other Social Finance investors. Elizabeth became an expert in Global Best Practice for Microfinance operations and governance and led trainings to investors, regulators and bank management teams in East, Southern and West Africa.  Since founding BitPesa in Nairobi, she has grown the company’s operations to include six African markets, with additional offices in Lagos and Dakar.  BitPesa opened their London office in 2015 and became the first company of its kind to receive a license by the FCA as an Authorized Payment Institution.  Elizabeth is a Senegalese and Nigerian resident and speaks four languages.
