Biography

Atkeyelsh Persson, PhD in Development Studies from University of Cape Town (UCT), MSc in Environmental Management & Policy from International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE), and International Masters of Global Public Health (MPH) from Lund University, Sweden. She has more than 20 years’ work experience in development issues in Africa and Europe. Currently, she is a Programme Management Officer at the Strategic Planning, Oversight and Results Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). She has worked as a Programme Officer at AUC-ECA-AfDB Land Policy Initiative Secretariat in Addis Ababa, as well as at the World Health Organizations Regional Office for Europe in Copenhagen, Denmark. Many of her research findings on development issues such as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in agriculture, have been disseminated at international workshops & published in accredited Scientific Journal as well as Academic Book Publishers such as Routledge. She has been a member of various technical working groups such as International Migration, Road Safety, and Illicit Financial Flows. She is versatile, resourceful and duly qualified to analyse topics in policy research on issues related to inclusive and environmentally sustainable economic growth, and programme planning and coordination.
