Biography

Albert Maasland was appointed Group CEO of Crown Agents Bank and Crown Agents Investment Management on 16 February 2017.
He started his career in banking at Chase Manhattan Bank – later JP Morgan. During his 11-year career there, he led the transformation and growth of a range of highly successful and profitable business units.

This included the launch of the first generation of global cross-border electronic transaction banking services. These provided online account and payment services across European financial centres. Albert developed transaction banking products and sales teams in global cash management, institutional payments and Global Custody units before he was appointed Head of FX sales at Chase.
Subsequently, Albert served as Global Head of Business Development at HSBC Markets, before he moved to Deutsche Bank to lead the transformation of both its European and global FX business. This steered Deutsche from #24h to #1 FX provider worldwide. He then held various senior roles as a member of the Executive Committee of Deutsche’s Wholesale and Investment Bank.

After leaving Deutsche Bank, Albert co-founded and directed an eclectic mix of entrepreneurial ventures before he returned to banking to establish the global e-commerce business at Standard Chartered Bank. He moved to Saxo Bank to fulfil several roles that included CEO of Saxo Bank UK and Chairman of Saxo Capital Markets UK. He became CEO of Knight Capital Europe in 2012 and subsequently KCG Europe and serves on the Board of EASDAQ NV, (the parent company of Equiduct, a pan-European Regulated Market, operated by Boerse Berlin).
Albert has a keen interest in the fintech sector; and acts as a trusted advisor to a few fintech firms.
