Biography

Szabi has 13 years’ experience in investment and corporate finance roles in emerging markets. He is currently Senior Investment Officer at SunFunder, a leading Nairobi-based funder providing innovative debt financing for solar enterprises active in emerging and frontier markets. He focuses on C&I and mini-grid sectors across Sub-Saharan Africa.

He was previously Head of Corporate Finance at Rensource, a decentralised energy infrastructure company in Nigeria backed by global investors. Prior to this, Szabi worked to launch an impact equity fund with a mandate to mainstream impact investing with a focus on tech-enabled companies in Sub-Saharan Africa. He worked in the LatAm investment team at Rioforte, a private equity investment company with EUR 3bn AUM. He started his career at HSBC working on debt transactions in Sub-Saharan Africa, including on utility-scale energy projects.

Szabi lived in 9 countries on 4 continents and speaks 4 languages. He holds an MBA from INSEAD.
