Biography

Rui Oliveira runs the largest money markets and fixed income mutual funds business in Angola with a cumulative track record, since its inception, of US$500 million of assets under management (AUM) servicing a solid client base including high net worth individuals and institutional investors. Rui Oliveira’s career spans over 10+ years of experience in capital markets, specialized in development finance transactions, capital raising, private placements and debt restructuring.

Over the years he has originated and executed transactions with United Nations Specialized Agencies, Development Financial Institutions, and leading international corporate lenders. Rui Oliveira started his career in wealth management at Citigroup and later at Morgan Stanley where he helped service a client base of 450 households with US$400 million of AUM.

Rui Oliveira also serves as an adviser to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO); and on the board of non-profit organizations including the Berkeley College Foundation in the United States; the UK-Angola Chamber of Commerce; and a Co-founder of the University of Oxford Business Alumni Network (OBA) Chapter in Luanda.

Rui Oliveira’s work has been editorially featured or cited on CNBC Africa, Said Business School, Imperial College London, AFSIC and African Private Equity & Venture Capital Association.

Rui Oliveira currently studies Investment Management & Machine Learning at EDHEC Business School; CFA Certificate in ESG investing; holds a PGDip in Strategy & Innovation from University of Oxford; read MSc Finance at Imperial College London; and a Bachelor’s degree in Management from Berkeley College.
