Biography

Richard Akwei is the co-Founder and a Managing Partner at Makeda Partners. He has over 32 years of experience in developed and emerging markets across investment banking and asset management. He was previously responsible for the management and execution of Musa Group’s Fund Management strategy which focused on regional pension fund partnerships. Prior to that, Mr. Akwei led The Rohatyn Group’s private equity initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. He began his career with J.P. Morgan where he spent 16 years focused on investment banking in Latin America, Africa and Emerging Europe.

Mr. Akwei is a citizen of Ghana and the United States. He earned a B. Comm. in Finance from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, and an M.B.A. in International Finance from the Toss School of Business at the University of Michigan.
