Biography
Michael Mills is a renewable energy and climate finance professional with many years experience of managing investments in emerging markets. Prior to joining the UK’s Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) he established the renewable energy business at responsAbility Investments AG, a development-sector fund manager headquartered in Zurich. responsAbility is the investment manager of the Global Climate Partnership Fund, which includes BEIS amongst other cornerstone investors.
Michael previously worked for African Infrastructure Investment Managers, originally a joint venture between Macquarie and Old Mutual, and before that ran Lloyds Bank’s renewable energy business for continental Europe, out of the Netherlands and London. Having started his career at BP, Michael went on to work as a project financier at City institutions such as Schroders, Bank of America and Credit Suisse First Boston before moving into the infrastructure and energy fund sector. He has a civil engineering degree from Imperial College, and an MBA from Insead.
