Biography
Marc Tison is driven by the belief that those fortunate enough to have acquired significant knowledge and experience in their careers have a responsibility to help make the world a better place.
In his current role as Chief Operating Officer at Zing Holdings, Marc draws on his 30 years of expertise in financial and mobile technology services to realise this vision. AMA.ZING, part of the Zing Group, provides free access to mobile banking and basic insurance services for millions of disenfranchised consumers. Its goal is to revolutionise financial inclusion for emerging markets.
Marc began his career with the Zing Group in 2015, serving as MD and Founder of Zingsure Limited – a group subsidiary that aims to impact the lives of millions of people in rural Africa through the provision of affordable access to microinsurance.
During his short time with Zingsure, Marc has managed to influence insurance policy reforms in some of the trickiest regulatory environments in sub-Saharan Africa and is a globally respected as an authority on microinsurance.
Prior to joining the group, Marc fulfilled a number of key roles at some of the most well-established financial service providers in the country, most recently as executive general manager and head of operations for the Mass Foundation Cluster at Old Mutual. He also spent seven years with Sanlam and five years with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Over the course of his career, Marc has experienced significant success with his various entrepreneurial ventures, most notably as CEO and founder of Alfinanz.
He has a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Economics from the University of Stellenbosch, and in his spare time, he is a keen golfer and biker.
