Biography

Deji is a Principal at Sahel Capital, a food and agriculture-focused private investment firm in sub-Sahara Africa. Sahel Capital manages two funds – Fund for Agriculture Financing in Nigeria (FAFIN), and Social Enterprise Fund for Agriculture in Africa (SEFAA). Deji co-leads SEFAA and provides portfolio management support to FAFIN’s portfolios. He recently led FAFIN’s exit from one of its portfolio companies and represents FAFIN on the board of directors of another portfolio company. Deji has over 14 years’ experience in impact and growth investing with particular focus on private credits. He also has significant experience in portfolio and operations management. Prior to Sahel, he spent three years across a range of senior roles with Syngenta Crop Protection AG. He played a significant role in setting up Syngenta Nigeria as the Chief Operating Officer and later became the Global Portfolio Operations Manager for one of the company’s business units in Switzerland. He started his career building systems and processes for P&G across Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Deji is both an African-Asia Impact Investing (AAII) Fellow and a Centre for African Leaders in Agriculture (CALA) Fellow. Deji is a first-class graduate of chemical engineering and holds an MBA from INSEAD Business School.
