Biography

Dean Alborough heads the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) team at Old Mutual Alternative Investments (OMAI) and is responsible for its ESG and Impact Investing practice, managing the ESG systems and performance of OMAI’s assets throughout the investment lifecycle. OMAI is Africa’s largest private alternative investment manager with over USD4.8 billion of assets under management. He also sits as a Non-Executive Director on the board of REISA, which is one of South Africa’s largest solar energy projects.

In the last few years Dean began presenting at international private equity and ESG conferences and writing in the media. He is a knowledgeable and measured contributor who can share many stories of how OMAI applies ESG across its investments and the challenges ESG investing presents when quantifying its impact as well as returns to investors.
