Biography

Aryeh Green is Chief StrategyOfficer at Gigawatt Global, a solar energy developer for Africa based in Jerusalem. Aryeh is also the author of the book My Israel Trail: Finding Peace in the Promised Land about his hike on the 800-mile Israel National Trail from Dan to Eilat. Aryeh has been an advisor to Natan Sharansky and a high-tech business executive and consultant for the past two decades, and is a frequent and dynamic, captivating speaker on Israel and human rights in the Middle East, renewable energy, Israel’s relations with Africa, Israel’s “StartUp Nation” and current affairs. A direct descendent of one of the first Jewish families in America, Aryeh grew up in San Francisco and moved to Israel over 30 years ago. He was a policy advisor to Mr. Sharansky for over a decade; a member of the executive staff of Sharansky’s Yisrael B’Aliya party; and served as a senior member of Diaspora Affairs minister Sharansky’s staff in the prime minister’s office. There, Aryeh was responsible for contacts with Palestinian and other Arab democracy activists and for relations with the ‘next generation’ of Jewish leaders (under the age of 50). He continues to be active in a number of initiatives promoting freedom and democracy in the Middle East. Aryeh has spent over 30 years in business, mostly high-tech, holding management positions and performing consulting work for public and private Israeli companies, including ECI Telecom, Aladdin, Lannet, Bank HaPoalim, Pfizer, AudioCodes, and others, as well as multi-nationals such as Pfizer and Moto Guzzi. Aryeh holds a BA in psychology from UC Berkeley, MA in international relations from Hebrew University, and MSc in business management from Boston University and Ben Gurion University. His publications include articles in the NY Times, Wall St. Journal, Haaretz, The Jerusalem Post, InFocus Magazine and many others. He lives happily in the town of Beit Shemesh in Israel and has three married children of his own, and happily inherited another six children when he married Miriam in August 2015. Aryeh is a grandfather of six, and when not promoting accuracy in the media, grows grapes and makes wine.
