Biography

A scion of the well known and respected business family “the Kanoria Family” with diverse manufacturing interests including cement, sugar, pharmaceuticals, tea, jute products, textiles, chemicals, packaging, pipes, roofing, Mr. Ajay Kanoria is the Chairman of the Kanoria Group

Mr. Kanoria experience includes the management of companies producing cement, sugar, pharmaceuticals, pipes, telecom equipment and industrial gases. Mr. Kanoria was the President of the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) and Advisor to Government of India for International Sugar negotiations under the aegis of GATT. He was deeply associated with formulating sugar policy for India for several years.

A widely respected business leader Mr. Kanoria has been a member of the governing committees of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), All India Organization of Employers (AIOE), the Cement Manufacturers Association (CMA), the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA), and others. He was a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF), The President of ISMA and Advisor to Government of India for international Sugar Trade under the aegis of GATT and the President of the Rotary Club of Bombay.

Mr. Kanoria’s present business interests are cement & industrial gases with a focus on setting up integrated agro, food and renewable energy projects in Africa, besides some private equity investments in third party businesses.
