Mwombeki Baregu is the Head of Agriculture and Rural Finance at Financial Sector Deepening Trust (FSDT) in Tanzania. He is responsible for project design, implementation, and management of the projects, initiatives, partnerships,  and portfolio of the Agriculture and Rural Finance theme. Mwombeki manages the FSDT partnerships, collaborations, and interventions with public and private institutions in the financial and agriculture sectors in Tanzania with an aim to develop financial solutions and products for agriculture sector and rural sub sectors and to deepen the flow of financing for agriculture sector in Tanzania. Amongst the engagements include to assist develop new financial instruments for the agriculture sector in Tanzania including structured funds, tradeable instruments, and long term contracts. FSDT partners and collaborators include commercial banks, apex institutions such as the Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB), local DFIs such as the SAGCOT Catalytic Trust Fund, Government institutions and agencies, and market facilitators in the agriculture sector in Tanzania including the Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor (SAGCOT) and its affiliated Catalytic Trust Fund (SAGCOT –CTF).
